Welcome to Caring for Creation Session 1

God Made Everything!

In this session we will be learning how to be great keepers of the earth and excellent creation caretakers.

We begin by listening to our faith story of how God created the earth and all the living creatures.

Talk about this video as a family.

  • In this story, what were some of the things God made?
  • How did God feel about everything that he had made?
  • What part of creation is your favorite?
  • When you are able to be out in the world God has created, how does it make you feel?
Pope Francis Writes A Letter

See what Pope Francis has to say in his letter to us all!

Talk about this video as a family.

  • What is the Pope asking us to do in his letter?
  • How does the Pope say we have treated the Earth?
  • What can we do to take better care of our common home?

Family Activities

Being a Caretaker
God did a lot work creating everything.  We are invited to help God be "caretakers" of God's creation.  Being a "caretaker" means taking care of something.  "Carelesser" is a funny word for caring less about something.

Do this activity sheet and then talk about more ways you can be a caretaker of God's creation.

Bubblewrap Beehives

Have some fun discovering why bees are so important to creation.
